Mama
By NikkiBorn on a farm to mother who was formerly a slave and a Native American father my great-grandmother is a woman of quiet strength. Her word is law in our family; there are no appeals once she has spoken. With good reason, she prefaces her words with wisdom and love that is as contagious as it is convincing. She does not speak lightly, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. And for Mama, everything is a matter of the heart. Over homemade slices of syrupy sweet pineapple upside down cake one is convinced to bear their soul. After tears and laughter, hugs and smiles you walk away feeling like a new person. All the wiser from your time spent around Mama’s kitchen table.
A divorce can be devastating; a divorce with a child involved is heartbreaking. There came a time in my divorce that I broke into what felt like tiny fragments of sharp glass, each piece making it painful to continue to move through life. As the word spread through our tight knit family that my marriage was over and my child’s fate hung in the air, Mama did not call me, not right away. She waited patiently while everyone else offered their advice and opinions. As I said, she does not speak lightly. When she did call me from her kitchen table hundreds of miles away she did not waste time. As it happened, Mama had called at the exact moment that I was crawling across my living room floor vexed with tears and heartbreaking pain. She had called to save me.
The words my great-grandmother spoke to me that day carry me through my life. She spoke of pride and sacrifice. She spoke of the power of women, the power of one woman, and the strength it takes to be a mother. Mama reminded me of our legacy, and as she sat at her kitchen table and me at mine, she reminded me that I am from women who have conquered the seemingly impossible. That tradition is not what the world makes it, but we make it and pass on. Mama reminded me that there are many ways to be a mother, many ways to love. Most of all she reminded me to keep my head held high. Because though I may feel like it, it was not my time to die, but to grow to the next part of my life. So live, because when it is my time to die, a woman should do so with her head held high.

Congratulations to our Participant Support Director, Sister and Friend, Stephanie Charette (AutumnRose) for a smooth delivery of her newest bundle of joy, William Joseph Charette. She’s amazing! You would think we run a sweat shop or something over here because in less than two hours after we got the news, she was responding to business emails we’d written earlier in the day.
Stephanie was working yesterday morning, and the next thing we
knew, we get an email - FROM HER, that the 6 lb 1 oz William was
here and both mother and baby were fine. When
we inquired how did this happen so quickly, she said, “he came so
fast! I was working at 8:30 in the hospital at
11! He was ready!”
Stephanie said previously that she would send us an email and be
working the following day after he came…I don’t think any of us
believed her for a moment, but she proves time
and time again that she is a woman of integrity and always tries
to hold true to her word. But WOW
Stef. Our advice to you is to “take the day
off.” Hopefully she is resting well. See

I was feeling sorry for myself the other day. I'm packing my life in card board boxes. Ten months of being unemployed has taken it's toll. Still no full time job, can't collect unemployment because I taught at a Catholic School, and I've lost everything I've worked hard for, my whole life.

Dottie Pender ~ BUM (My Back Up Mom)

Dottie Pender was just my eighth grade English teacher ….until~
Sister George saw me…my heart was beating so fast – I had seen that scowl on her face before…“Debra, what happened to your face?” To me those words echoed loudly throughout the halls of the school. Looking at my feet, I mumbled something about falling…being clumsy and stupid…in tears I ran to the bathroom to hide my humiliation and my fear.
Mrs. Pender followed me…I was so worried that they’d say I told…She sat down on the floor with me-shoulder to shoulder- and very simply whispered, “I’m here and if you need to talk it will be our secret…I promise.”
That summer she took me home with her for a two week vacation and as she often referred to herself - she became my BUM – my back up mom. She kept that secret and many more for the next 40 years as my mom. She was always gracious to my real mom…but she continually created reasons and ways for me to go and stay with her and her family.
Before long…I had my own bedroom in her house…and I stayed there every other weekend and every holiday. She opened my eyes and mind to unlimited possibilities of a new life. She convinced me that I was a bright and beautiful young woman…and I seemed to require a great deal of reassurance back then. But she stood by me…all through those years. She taught me that I didn’t have to be a product of the family or the neighborhood that I came from. She taught me about dignity and integrity and character ~ she taught me love. She inspired me to recognize my passion and desire for writing. She taught me to believe in myself.
She showed me a whole new world…one that I could only see through her eyes…and one that I may have never experienced had she not so unselfishly opened her heart and her home to a lost 12 year old girl. With her encouragement, I went on to be the first in my family to graduate from high school and then to graduate from college. And when I married and had my first child and when I divorced…when I lost my own mother…she was there…in fact she was there for every event of my life for the next 40 years. When I went home for vacations or holidays…I went to my home with her and I stayed in my room where I was safe and where I was loved.
I went home to her for the last time on April 9th, 2009, because it was time to say goodbye to my Mom Pender…my mom, my best friend, my mentor. And hello to my own personal Angel ~ because you see, she always was my Angel and I know she’ll be watching out for me.
World Prayer for Water Day, May 18, 2010
By Pan PanIn light of current events in the Gulf of Mexico, this could not come at a better time. Exactly how The Sisterhood of Planetary Water Rites chose today as World Prayer for Water Day is not clear, but that they did is pretty special. Today, people are asked to join their efforts to unify in mass people with the same intent and purpose; that our waters will once again run pure and plentiful. Celebrations will be held at many of the Earths Waterways. "Water is the foundation of life. Without it there would be no life on Planet Earth. We have been brought together as a dedicated voice for our waters," say the women of the Sisterhood.
So much has been threatened as a result of the debacle in the Gulf. The Grandmother Elders say there have been remarkable results shown within once polluted lakes and streams using the ceremonies that will be performed today. If there is even the remotest possibility the ceremonies found on their website are beneficial we hope many of you will share this time with friends, family groups small or large at a waterway in your community.

Introducing the Crystal Skulls and One of My Experiences
By KatrinaI would like to introduce the crystal skulls and what they mean to me and how they have increased awareness to who I truly am. I will begin with a small pink quartz skull I received. It was gifted to me from a friend. I have always had an interest in crystals but did not know anything about the crystal skulls. My friend mentioned to me that she ordered a crystal skull. I asked her “what are crystal skulls?” She said she didn’t really have much information on them but that she felt a strong connection with them as she also felt with regular crystals. I immediately began some research on the crystal skulls. I found information from Joshua Shapiro. (who is now my life partner) I knew that there was something deep down inside of me that knew about these crystal skulls. I remember feeling a re-union. It was not too long after that I received a pink quartz crystal skull from my friend. I was very excited to receive this crystal skull. I felt an expansion of my heart chakra the minute I saw it from a picture and then once it was in my hands it expanded even more. Then again, I felt a re-union of joy! I am able to telepathically talk and hear the crystal skulls but when I first received my pink quartz crystal skull I did not hear it. My friend received names for her crystal skulls but at the time I received mine, I did not. It was working with my heart chakra to open my sense of trust and expansion. Then one day as I was walking through a doomed sidewalk into the office the pink quartz crystal skull began to speak to me. I first thought, as I was holding it in my hand, who is talking to me? And I heard, “We the Guardians are speaking to you” I said out loud, “oh my gosh” is this your name? It answered, “yes, this is our name.” So the Guardian is androgynous (male and female).
I continued to spend my free time with the Guardian. I slept with it and meditated with it. I also felt lead to take the Guardian everywhere with me, including to my job. I began to receive messages and journal(ed) them. I later found out that the guardian consciousness was able to communicate with me through my crystal skull and this is how the name came to me. During this time I was also asking questions and one question was “why is the crystal in the shape of a human skull?” At the same time my friend gifted the Guardian to me she also gave me a book called Mystery of the Crystal Skulls revealed. A lot of information about the crystal skulls is in this book and it helped me. At the time that my friend gave me the book she had received the book from having a session with Joshua Shapiro. Joshua Shapiro continued to communicate with my friend through email and then we eventually all were able to meet together. Afterwards, I attended a session with Joshua Shapiro and his crystal skulls. The session was electrifying for me. I actually felt a lightening bolt go through me and it was an emotional experience for this was a re-union that I remembered from a past lifetime. After the session Joshua and I began to see one another and my journey in this lifetime began with the crystal skulls.
Now back to the questions I had asked “why is the crystal skull in the shape of a human skull?” which my answer was answered through learning more about the crystal skulls with my life partner Joshua Shapiro. It turns a lot of people ask the same question when we travel and do our public talks. But in order to answer the question it must be considered why is that we have a shape of our bone skull. There is a relationship between the bones in our body that are of a vibration of frequency. The reason the shape of the human bone skull was created in this form is that we can receive direct transmission of cosmic knowledge and information from the universe and after we receive this information it filters into our different levels of consciousness until all or part of this comes into our wakened consciousness.
This brings us to quartz crystal skulls. There is a resonance that
whenever we hold a piece of quartz that energy is transferred to
every part of our body because there are bones everywhere getting
back to the shape we have received intuitively that this shape
was decided upon by a higher intelligence that is involved and
guides in our spiritual evolution for humanity. So if a person creates a
crystal skull that approximates the shape of a human bone skull
what do you think might happen? Crystal skulls have the
ability to duplicate the same functionality as the human bone
skull. Therefore, a
crystal skull can be used as a receptacle of incredible knowledge
and information possible created by ancient civilizations.
Additional we (Joshua Shapiro and I) have found by working with
our own crystal skulls that they are living beings on to
themselves as they telepathically communicate with us everyday.
In conclusion the reason why the crystal skulls are special and
important to humanity is that their shape and material from which
they are made allows us to have direct contact with dimensional
beings of a higher intelligence who can now assist in this time
of transformation to create a world of peace and brought me to
who and what I truly am and about in my soul purpose in this
lifetime.

Every human being in this world is charged with the duty of contributing towards making a “more perfect union”. To me, it’s the price of liberty, in society and in our hearts and minds. Yet, the beauty of our human spirit is that it's up to each of us to participate at any level we'd like—or not. From my perspective, we really don’t have the choice of WHEN anymore, simply HOW?
On this honored day to remember what Americans have accepted as their birthright, let me remind you of the opening to The U.S. Constitution and its amazing, self-renewing dream:
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Powerful? Yes it is because it is a keen reminder that perfecting the “Union” is a hard, ongoing process. It doesn’t appear perfect. It never will. And it's up to us to stay engaged in that never-ending process of creating a better human spirit and therefore a better planet. So, on this Fourth of July, I ask you, my fellow spirits, to be thankful for all our freedoms, to be grateful to all who've sacrificed to get us here, and to remember that as the “Melting Pot of the World” we are all ONE!
